Terrains with Bryce 3D - a little help, please? - 08/07/07 20:21

I found a user-made tutorial on turning Bryce 3D landscapes into Game Studio terrains, but halfway through got a little confused.

After making the landscape, it says to go to WED and upload it by clicking 'File > Import > BMP'. However, my version of WED doesn't have BMP; it only has 3DSMax ASE, MDL, and FBX.

Does anyone know how to get around this? I'd really like to get my Bryce landscapes up and running, and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

---By the way, the tutorial can be found here:

It's the one titled "Bryce".

1 - you should be talking about MED, not WED

2 - in MED file -> import -> terrain from pic -> .bmp

3 - save as .mdl / .hmp

4 - import into WED

Thanks a million! ^^

I did run into another problem, though. I successfully imported it into MED, but once I got to the fourth step, it told me "File open Error".

For what it's worth, that only happened when I saved it as a .mdl; when I saved it as .hmp, it wouldn't show up at all; the file looked empty.

---Update: I fixed the problem! In case anyone else is having this problem, I just needed to save it as a .mdl5, not a .mdl7.
Thanks!
