Exporting from Maya produces tranparent obj in MED

Exporting from Maya produces tranparent obj in MED - 02/02/08 01:01

Hi, i've tried this all sorts of ways, exporting obj, fbx, 3ds. No matter what I use when ever I export an object from Maya and import it into MED it appears transparent, or looks like the normals are flipped.

I've tried flipping the normals in MED but it still shows up as see through when i preview it in engine.

I don't get this when I export files from 3DS Max, I've even tried importing the mesh into max and then reexporting out but i still get the same issues.

Has anybody had this issue before? Is there a workaround?

Thanks for any help.

Hello,

I could think of two reasons:

Either your objects have textures with alpha channels (this would cause sorting errors) or your objects have set some internal material settings (this can happen by importing them).

To check if your objects use material setups have a look at the skin settings in MED: Edit > Manage Skins > [select skin] > Skin Settings.
'material setup' should be unchecked.

thanks for the insight, i kept saving the texture out as bmp thinking it was an issue with an alpha channel because originally it was a targa image, however when i checked the bmp's channels I see now that there was a white alpha channel in there.

Thanks again for the input, works now.
