looking for a mentor-type person? - 09/13/09 06:37

hey everyone,

i was just wondering if there was some helpful fellow out there that could answer a few questions i have.
they're not too difficult, but i suppose there's too many to ask at once here.

email? msn?

reply or pm or something if interested.
there's not a whole lot i can do in return, perhaps some photoshop/ texture work or something?

thanks.

Just start of with your first question.
I'm sure people will give you a helping hand. (I'll try but I'm a newbie myself) This is a very nice community here. Usually i get lots of helpfull answers to my questions within just one day.

So... why don'T you just go ahead smile

And you really are better off posting your questions out in the open.
That way you'll get your answers described in different ways,
so if one persons answer doesnt make it clear, anothers may make more sense.

Also, welcome aboard!

Re: looking for a mentor-type person? - 09/14/09 06:22

haha thanks everyone.

okay so i'll just list some then grin
and i can acknowledge they sound like noobish questions, but i get so confused on these, and there's not much information on them!

- why don't my models cast shadows, even though they have the shadow flag set?
- how on earth do you implement shaders, without bringing in all the template code?
- and should it be as hard as tutorials make it out to be, to just get an actor to follow a path at a predefined point?

i'm trying to use as little template code as possible, and am running 70.05 pro.
thanks!

Re: looking for a mentor-type person? - 09/14/09 09:47

woah woah woah.

so you're saying the version i have is pirated?
and before you say it i'm not acting stupid or whatever. i own a copy of a6, but a friend said he'd give me a7.

Re: looking for a mentor-type person? - 09/14/09 09:49

Even if he gave a legal version of a7 to you you are not allowed allowed to use it. Your friend needs to buy a team license.

Re: looking for a mentor-type person? - 09/14/09 09:58

Re: looking for a mentor-type person? - 09/14/09 11:19

um, i haven't tried to update it.

so, should i just use my a6 from now on?

Re: looking for a mentor-type person? - 09/14/09 11:37

You can use it or you can buy/try the new A7. You donīt need to buy the PRO Version. The Commercial one is absolutely enough.

Re: looking for a mentor-type person? - 09/16/09 10:59

6.22 is a beta and the most popular A6 WarEz Version.

Re: looking for a mentor-type person? - 09/16/09 11:26

You mean 6.20...
6.22 was the last, official directX 8.1 version.
MausGame was done with it (6.22 Pro).
http://www.vulkanware.de/mg/index.html

Sometimes 6.20 was labeled to 6.22 by crackers - but itīs not the real 6.22...
