hi,

I did a project last year, my pc has died, I only have the protected (publish version) project and I guess there is still no way to get back a wmp from it ?
I did a little website of this project and i'm not trying to force any foreign project but it probably won't change anything.

if contained only models there is a solution to convert wmb to $$m that can be opened by WED. it was made by Emre, and you can find it in the contributions section.

thanks for your answer, as far as I remember I used only personal mdl, so it looks like an interesting "pist" (idea) and I'll go search for it. I'll answer later for give the result of this.

if you read through the thread you should get a proper exporter. I integrated it into my editor without problems, but I use some additional tricks and tweaks due to my special requirements...

I finally got back the wmp or equivalent, impressive and was very easy at the end, like just had to load the project with your program.
There are dead things like names of mdl, folders, actions, etc., but at least I got the project in the editor which is really something.

in theory action names are kept, but probably it works only if those actions are available in the code...

Excuse me, you mean ".mdl should have kept their actions directly attached to them" or "actions should be in the actions list" ?
Because actions are in the actions list, but not directly attached to .mdl.

Edit : I just reread through the topic of emre and I have the answer, last problem is that the editor crashs when I save a project (including demo included in the editor) into wmb, maybe because of my computer.

If you have compiled version of your project, even with hidden resources in .wrs archive, you still can ripp the whole game out of it.

Yes, despite this crash, the editor automatically saves the project in a .$$m and a .$$w which work perfectly in wed, except for the actions which are not attached to the .mdl. (which is probably the cause of the crash).

yes, the crash can occur because if you use my editor the attached action scripts are not found.
if you check the $$m file, check a model that should have an action, its name should be saved under it.
but I checked it only with my own levels, so have no real experience with such cases like yours.

and another thing, if you use my editor, it writes some skills into the $$m and always uses the extended model property format. it can cause problems. in Emre's script it is examined whether to use the simple or extended saving of model properties, and does not add those "fictious" data I use.

I just checked the .$$m file, was interesting, here is an example

after action there are 20 skills in 1 line, I store there bounding box size and some other entity properties used by my editor.

in the next line there are flags.

the last ndef as I remember is material.

the most perfect solution you could get is to integrate Emre's (or my) script into you script, in this case actions would work too. if I have time I'll try to convert my script to include easily, nothing magical inside.
