Purchasing music for game

Purchasing music for game - 03/17/16 05:08

I am looking into hiring a digital music artist to make music for my game, which I plan on selling commercially.

I offered to pay a certain music artist about $300 total to make a series of songs to be used in my game. The music artist is also demanding that he be able to use the same music for other projects outside my game as well.

Have any of you dealt with music artists in getting music for your game? How have you handled the business transactions in purchasing tailor made music for your game? Are the stipulations that this music artist is setting forth reasonable, or no? Should he be able to use the music he makes for my game, for other unrelated projects as well?
