Hello all,

I'd like to show some pictures of the basic playermodel for our game. It is 3012 faces with a handpainted 512x512 texture and a 128x128 normalmap.

The model is cut in several pieces to allow the player to customize his character. The feet, legs, body, head and hair(none yet) are all seperate models. Currently we only have one pair of pants and no shirts/armors, hair, shoes, etc.

Anyway, here are the shots. Please be constructive.

skin looks excellent! i can't believe that's hand-painted :0
the model is well-built. like grimber said the proportions aren't right, but to me it looks intentional and has a great look to it.

nice work. keep it up!

The head looks a bit too rounded and flat. It might be because of the cheek bones

Hands look a little bit to big.

Yes. Indeed. Checkbutton is right hands are too big. They should be able to cover the face but not the whole head. But maybe it is just the perspective?

The textures are pretty good. The proportions, while not ideal, actually do look like someone. Some people have these proportions, if anybody has ever been to a public place you will see people with all different proportions. Probably some people posting in this very thread have some strange body proportions

What I usually do is work from image planes as references. In this way I can assure that my proportions are right, however, if your drawing is not so good you should work with real photographs as reference.

However, believe it or not, the best help a person can get for learning proportions is hearing feedback and criticism from others.

Why are the pants rolled up? Is he going to wade in the pond?

Did I mention that I like the textures a lot? ...oh yes I did mention that

~Good luck!

looks good to me. legs a bit too short and arms a bit too long but else it looks pretty cool. that because i like style and not realism...
