I am new to 3dgs. I have noticed that when you load a model that it is only in wireframe. How do I get a shaded model?

Use the view menus within the program and set the view type to "textured".

Models are wireframe in the editor. Always. When you build the level, in the flythrough, they will be shaded and skinned. When you run the level, again, they will be shaded and skinned. But not in the editor.

Not true. By default they are wireframe, but this is easily configured. The part about when in the level/engine is true though.
