I am working on a machinima production system based on GS6.
It is a multiuser system, where up to 10 players can play and animate characters in realtime.
This is done by using standart x-box gamepads and joysticks.
Alle activities are recorded and be able to replayed.
On the host system one can record the film in a avi file.
I have worked now on this the last year and now the version 1.0 is ready
Look to www.taratoga.de. There you can find the first simple film.
Hope you can enjoy this.
Many thanks to grimber (fine tuts), Triple X (superb bigdll) and many thanks to locoweed (superb multiuser tut).

interesting!

could you give some more informations about the features and the workflow of your tool? will it be released? is snagit for video capturing? what in-game editing features are there or do you have to edit your shots in a video editing tool like premiere?

i like machinima (already did some experiments with a6) and also have the idea for a machinima tool in my head for a while.

Hallo ventilator,

yes I use snagit and the film editing is done by premiere.

The workflow is to play at the first computer and record the first character.
Then you sit at the next computer or a second animator sit at the next computer and record the second character, while the first is replayed by the tracked record of the first etc.

In between you can record the chamera track....

or you do it all in realtime together with some friends...

Everything what you are doing with the gamepads is tracked and recorded.

On each computer is a camera view of the "main camera" so the team can see what happens with the camera in realtime.

In the moment I dont know if I want to release it because then I think I have to work it out.

I do everything by my own and looking for some people who are interested in this field.

Specially the design of modells are very time consuming as you know. I have now about 10 selve made characters.

Most of the characters which are on the market I cannot use because they are too simple or too detailed or poor animation.

If you watch my first video you can imagine how much work it is for one person.

I use 3d Studio Max to design and animates the characters. Then export the animated characters by sylix max2mdl. I have some standart rigs for this.
They have to fullfill some conventions I have defined.

I can load my mdl Characters directly into the machinima system.

I have a lot of instructions to control the system by keyboard and to chat with the other animators...(Thanks to locoweeds multiplayer tut.)

Kind regards

taratoga

hallo!

Hi there,
thats a great thing I am looking for a tool like that, is it available?
For really good techniques to mirror real life movies-

Field of View is needed, ie how angular camera is.

Techniques to mirror things from real life filmaaking like camera truck etc.

Does your method have that?

The movie drags a bit, could just be my PC.

Apart from those concerns, nice!

Hi there,

thank you JamesA. That gives me more motivation to work further on it.
Now it is a bit too tricky to use my system, but it is in a working progress and maybe I find some more guys who are able to take parts of this project. In the moment I do everything by my own.
Yes I have field of view (Fully trackable)
Also have a camera Track. You can think about a flying camera, which is controlled by a joystick and everything you do is recorded. OK?

Please tell me what does that mean " The movie drags a bit" cause Iam german and dont understand english so well.

drag i mean the frame rate was a bit jerky.

I am not personally into flying cameras as they are not normallty reperesentative of the camera moves I try to emulate in 3D,
but with FOV, make sure its stock lenses like in mx if possible----
i look forward to seeing how this goes.
