Thats what I was saying.
If you build your chacter and clothes properly you can just assign the vertices to the models bones. Then it should allready be animated if you animated your chacter before hand.
Then as I said you can just delete the chacter and save the clothes as a seperate model. Then in script you can attach the clothes to the model and they should animate well together.
If you dont plan on using bones to control your chacters animations by script you could convert them to vertex animations. Which is faster then bones. Since both models should have the same amont of frames and identical names the same function should animate both. Of course this is all in theory and I havent acctually done it but I cant really think of an easier way.
