Search for Steempipes' 5-Textures-Multitexturing - 5 textures are surely enough for everyone

I don't know a link right now, just use the search function a bit and you should be lucky. Maybe it's also in the wiki, dunno o_O

Another bad reply i will give like always.

i think i have fallen in the dark side of the force

Try BV engine : when editing a terrain you can add as many textures as you want
and edit the terrain with them (paint, choose x,y UV scale etc ..)
each time this is a one more render pass , that's to you to not use too many.

It could be cool if 3DGS in the future could also manage automatically any number of textures, but for 5 i find it's really enought

its too bad, but partly i have to agree to "expertise" :
"when editing a terrain you can add as many textures as you want"

you can create for example one big base texture which define rough regions of the terrain, like mountains (rock and snow), desert, grass and such stuff (which you paint into one texture).. additionally you have still 7 free texturestages. you can now use one or even two blend textures and the rest of the textures can be detail textures for those rough defined textur regions. like gras, rocks, sand, stones, mud and whatever.. that is pretty much

its just that you dont forget about this "primitive way" of creating a base texture and use the shader for details and not for a "on the fly" generation of this basemap via a shader

Hi! ello

Is there a tutorial or an example how to do this? Sorry but I have never worked with terrain before, What you mean with the big ground texture map? And the 7 free texturestage?
If you have only three color to use RGB?
