yeah, i want to blur the shadow mapping on blocks but i dont want to manually assign a shader to a 50+ textures, is there anyway to apply to blocks in general.

also does anyone think that this will slow down the frame rate a ton? or will it be ok if its not too complex?

Currently shaders on blocks are too slow..

yeah, i know they are incredibly slow on blocks, but do you think a very simple shader on them would be that bad?

yes actually.

And the blurring shader you want requires mulitple texture samples, which will certainly be slower.

IN any case, its not exactly a good idea to try to sample and blur lightmaps like this, becasue usually lightmaps are very closely packed on the texture, with not a great deal of speace between sections. You may get a lot of errors if you do what you are planning.

If you really want to try it, just do a basic multi tap shader, like a PCF kernel.

So will this Sphere Engine create shadows from my mdl models?? and if so will it slow down the frame rate? when i use the demo and run it, the frame rate is rather slow when i look from side to side..

Yes it can do shadows form your models. Yes it will certainly slow down the framerate.. nothing is free in 3D rendering

You can switch the shadows off in the game options and then it runs fast like hell - as far as there is much speed in hell
