In the older version of MED (pre-skin manager) I had no problem importing Quake md2 models and their skins. In MED 6.814 I can import the model and the skin, but the skin does not appear on the model in the skin editor, in the model editor, or in the engine preview.

This is my procedure:
File > Open .md2 model
Edit > Manage Skins
New Skin
Skin Settings > check Texture box
Texture File > load skin that came with model
Close skin settings
Select skin in skin manager, click on Set Skin.

Everything looks good in the skin editor. The mapped mesh is there. But the skin is not applied to the model (the model is untextured).

Here is a screenshot in the skin editor.

The model is "Eric C skins" at this location:

Thanks for any help.

Create a MDL Mapping in the skin editor.

how was the model created? the blender md2 exporter has a malfunction, try to convert the model to another file first.
if the model wasn't created in Blender, try to load it in Blender first and then export it to *mdl using ventilators script (search the WIKI). this works in most cases.

[edit] other question: is your 3d view port set to the correct display dll and to textured view, not gouraud shading?

Thanks for the advice. I sorted out the problem which had two solutions:

1. In Skin Editor, I selected all the mapped mesh then EDIT > SET SKIN, and the texture appeared on the model. I'm not sure why I have to do this if the skin has already been set in the model editor EDIT > MANAGE SKINGS > SET SKIN. But it works.

2. Sometimes the texture does not appear on a model due to video settings. I went to FILE > PREFERENCES > VIDEO OUT and changed the GXL option. [This is a general issue not just related to importing MD2 files. What is GXL anyway?]
