First off, you may want to give some time before you "start freaking out". It was less than 8 hours from the time of your first post to the time of your second.
Second of all, to help, knowing which errors you are getting goes A LOOOONNNGGG way ...

p1) 3ds can stroe only 64k polygons, if you exceed the value, you will possible get errors. keep your models lowpoly p2) load your files in blender/wings3d/milkshape first, see if you get an error there. if wings3d can't load it, it's possibly a problem with our 3ds exporter. if so, try obj instead.
general solution: get PandaX exporter (directX export, freeware) for mesh, animation, texture etc. export.
