I am just starting using A6, and I was wondering what programs work the best with it import/export wise. Which Modeling programs, levelbuilders, and terrain generators do you guys recommend with A6? thanks

i highly recommend blender (www.blender.org) because it is free, really good, and ventilator wrote a great exportor that handles bones and vertex animation, textures, etc.

its a lil tricky to learn, but if u use the online documentation and tutorials u'll be pro in no time. i use it for models and levels and terrains (i use models for all elements of my levels coz i find them either to use). ventilator's exporter means there's no need for MED at all.

Thanks. I heard blender was tricky to use, right now I use Maya(student discount)and it is a pain in the arse. There is TOO many options which makes the interface overwhelming for me. I heard somewhere that blender might be redoing the interface to make it more user friendly. Anyways I will download it today and give it a try.

Another program is fragMotion. It costs $20 and is an animation program. You can build skeletons, rig your models, and animate either by hand (vertex or bone) or via motion cap files. It has a 3D paint option and you can paint vertex weights. There's even an onion skin preview. There's also inverse kinematics, keyframing, lua scripting for custom plugins, and UV unwrapping capabilities, as well as very primative modeling capabilities (primatives).

It exports to a plethora of formats including all versions of 3DGS MDL and X format. The developer is pretty good about implementing user suggestions.
