Downloaded the trial version of 3DGS. Looking to see if it can Vertical scroll?
I'm sure it can, but How does one go about it. A steer in the right direction or a chunk of some code that explains How To would be most appreciated. I realize that any commercial style game utilizes scripts to control the engine. Is it 3dgs engine of a script that keeps the scroll movement alive?
Thanx for your time

what do you mean about "vertical scroll"? 3dgs is a 3D engine. so, if you want to simualate simple 2D scrolling game you have to work a little (plan you level, positioning the camera, make right movement scripts and so on).
If you want to scroll a panel, you can do it too (make panels as entities, place your camera above and apply proper script to move the camera, for example)
Or is you question about something else?

Have you ever played the "Atri game" [River Raid]? It was designed for the 800 series computer. It is a vertical scrolling map of terrain. The center being water the outer edges being land. Attacked from both sides via tanks, motr gun fire. Mine fields in the water and much more. But I am interested ONLY in how to achieve that vertical continuous scroll of terrain. The engine can handle calls to scripts. and scripts will handle most of the interation and control the engine. But the starting point that concerns me s the terrain being scrolled. collision detections are either engine invoked or script controlled. Thats minor. "VERTICAL SCROLLING TERRAIN". That's all. Thank you for your reply.

Code:

ACTION ScrollCa,
{
// Scrolling speed
my.skill1 = 0.5;
//
camera.tilt = -90;
while(1)
{
camera.x -= my.skill1 * time;
wait(1);
}
}

very basic code to make the camera continuously move downward (scroll)...

You'll have to modify it to fit your needs...
