Since I often heard of problems because of data loss I made a little tool for you and your projects:

http://www.firma-geppert.de/Download/xCopyDesigner.zip

Use it at your own risk and please give me some feedback in the case that you find problems.

You can simply copy files to another hdd, data stick or network drive. With the options you can even set-up the system to your needs. So you can copy only newer files to your destination.

By the way: Use it daily, if you work daily on your projects! It is just one click and very fast if you copy only newer files.

Happy data storing!

4. Warum denn xcopy? Delphi hat doch feine intere Dateisystemfunktionen.

I could add scheduled tasks even with timer and I could have used file-copy routines instead xcopy.

But this took me already 8 hours and is a free tool

Please look into your destination folder!
And please test it with complete folders and not only a few files.

You will see that there are more than only one folder. The complete folder structure of your source folder will be re-created. So you can restore them easily and you don't have everything packed into one folder.

So I don't see a reason to split the tasks to more than one destination folder.

But you can even put this program in several folders and make more than one setup. Then you can use it with several destinations as well.

Sorry. I forgot the name of the style. I got it directly from a microsoft website and changed the constrast a little bit to make it more ergonomic.

Object Pascal with Delphi IDE.

But I could have programmed it with Visual Studio and C#/Windows forms (.net) as well.
I could make that even with Java and Swing Classes but Java already takes more time. Most variables are classes and even simple tasks take a few lines source code more than Object Pascal.

Object Pascal has the best and smallest source code. C# takes a bit more and C++ / Java are the worst languages in terms of the amount of source code that has to be written.

I don't know Visual Basic very well but I think this might be comparable with Object Pascal.

Besides that the Delphi solution has another advantage: You don't need a .net or Java framework. It simply runs on every windows system.
