2400 polys?
*pew* That's way too much for the edgy look.

She has ~3300 polys and looks far different:

Humans are ahrd to make, look for good scratches (front/ side) or draw them by your self (which is quite efficient).

I think at 3300 , she's a bit too high poly as well , u can achieve the same quality for around 1500.

btw , keep in mind that the UT2004 characters are around 2400 polyz.

It is the head, 1100 only, the rest of the body 2200.

And yes, much too much polys for the way I use her...

Most of the quality is in the texturing and rendering. I think Shore Vietam's models would look a lot better with a good render, and the two posted by Andvari would loose their shine if rendered in A6.

The trick with low poly models is to hold the shape with as few polygons as possible. All the details are painted on.

Young link, yours looks like a Frankenstien monster stitched together from parts of other models. It also lacks texturing. Not a bad first effort, but not something you want to put up as a professional model for sale.

right on most parts except the rendering, most of the above pictures are not good because they were rendered (tho it has a small effect, its details and shading, if the shadowing is good then it smooths the model out considerably, as far as you go young_link, you might think about throwing it into blender, unwrapping it, and baking an occlusion map on it since that requires almost no skill to do, if you dont understand, then pm me your msn/yahoo/aim username, and download blender, then the next time im on, ill walk you thru it.

Those models would look awesome in gamestudio, all the detail is painted on the texture. The quality might be slightly less when ingame , but it would still look very very good. GameStudio renders better than some people give it credit for , but like with any other engine , the source material is crusial to how a game looks. Of course , models like the ones Andvari posted can run you anywhere from $1000 - $2000 , which is why you dont see them in any gamestudio projects.

I found that general pic once, too. its stunning.

However, the rendering does a lot.
There have already been a couple of screens, first rendered in max oder somewhere else and then portend into GS and put into a game.

There is a heavy difference.

At least I don't call myself a modeller but a programmer, so it doesn't matter that mine doens't look like contest winner models, I just try to reach something between N64 and Dreamcast...

Oh, Sorry ShoreVietam, i didn't intended to offend you, i really like your character and your game, actually it's one of the most enjoyable 3dgamestudio games i've played so far.

I wish i could make models half as good as the ones i posted here .
