woot? these models just have such a low polycount? amazing. this is an awesome example of what a nice texture can do.

Yeah, but... Who is Lu?

they're an example of what a nice texture, efficient modelling and alpha maps can do...

(It's a shame that 3DGS can't handle aplha maps properly yet)

i figured they were, but as far as the actual thread goes, have you made any progress in making the changes mentioned here yet?

You would have to be mentally retarded to think that what makes those models look good is the max rendering. There isnt any normal or bump mapping applied to them , it's just the model and texture , the max render does little for you withought any special materials or lighting. The rendering in gamestudio would be slightly less quality , but the model would still render very nicely. The only times gamestudio wont render a model really good is if you buy a model that has it's detail in a normal or bump map , and then you render it in gamestudio withought the normal map , then it'll look pretty ugly , but if the details are all on the diffuse texture map , then you wont see much quality difference , because gamestudio will just be using the texture map which it displays like a picture. The texturing isnt the only thing thats outstandign in those models, also the uv mapping , it's incredibly good , with pretty much no stretching at all , this are the things that make a model look good. I will try and find a model of such quality to load in gamestudio to compare for all to see.

i totally agree with you Why_Do_I_Die, but that "You would to be mentally retarded" comment was quite agressive

I do not totally agree with that. Even when all effects are in the color map it will look flat and softened in Gamestudio. There are 2 reasons for that:

1) You do not have per-pixel-lighting. Because of that the depth of the model will not be that visible. I am not a Max-user but I am sure Max renders per Pixel.

2) Gamestudio softens the edges of the models. In some situations you will lose edges and details because of that. So you have to paint those edges into the texture before to overcome this problem.

lack of perpixel lighting? thats so incredibly easy to overcome, so whats the problem
