How can I animate an actor? You know, you open the game and and the actor starts walking or doing something. Any info please!!!??

Hiya.

In a nutshell, you have to animate the model in a 3d package and/or MED. Then, using scripting, you tell the engine to run through frames X - Y. You put all the animations in one 'file'; so frame 0 - 30 might be 'walk', then 31 - 43 might be 'run', then 44 - 50 might be 'injured', etc. In the scripting, you would tell the engine to 'play 0-30 when the W key is pressed and held'.

But you have to do all your animations in a modeling/animation package. 3DGS by itself can't 'animate'...it can only do what you tell it to do; play frame X - Y when Z happens.

Hope that makes some kind of sense. Hit up the help files and search for "animation".

Allright, thanks for the advice, but that would be executing (calling?) the animations. For example I could make some walking, jumping and doing something animations but then when I would preview then Gstudio6 he would do all of those stuff in just one place without moving. Could I simply attatch him to a path? (I don't know how to make a path)

I strongly recommend you look for the Grimber FPS tutorials on this site. That will explain everything you are asking and more.

You create the animations in the model file uisng MED as Paul_L_Ming outlined, then you write an action in the WDL file to run through whatever animations you desire. You attach the action to the model in WED, and the actor will only do the animations that are triggered by your code. Until you assing an action to the model he will just do aerobic exrecises, running through all of his animations.

This is obviously high level. To see HOW to do all this the manual and a tutorial is the way to go.
