I just have some 3DS modells so i opened MED and clicked on import->from 3DS I can't see the skins (more than one and more than one object) in MED but in the engine preview If i load them in the WED i just see a black model in the testrun window but i can see the skin in the 3d-view window of the WED.... What's my mistake? EDIT: If you want i can upload some images Thx Omega

Hiya.
Here's a few things to check...
(1) Check the models normals.
(2) In MED, after import, go to the Skin Editor and then Skin Settings; check the Texture File box, and make sure your texture is selected.
(3) Make sure the model is 'closed' (it can't have any 'holes' in it; like a box that sits on the ground, but doesn't have a 'bottom').

OK this is example... go to this web: linkgo to download meshes and download a model, f.e. Jem'Hadar Fighter (easy one) and import him to med. After all in med we have nice looking ship in 3D view but invisible in level Normals are ok. We have to go to skin menager, import skins one by one but then eveything is wrong. Waiting for reply

i loaded the mesh into wings3d and MED, both cannot reat the texture information properly and display an untextured model. does it look like this to you? c4d displays the textures, but doesn't export them correctly. this model is simply bad...? even if you manage to reapply the textures, certain areas like the nacelles aren't mapped/textured and therefor unusable.

I've made second example, with better looking one. And still the same. So question is how to do this? Maybe first open it in 3dsmax and then use some plugin?
Never say never.

hint: MED sets the alpha values in the material manager itself. check that. i suggest, you disable the material settings (simply uncheck the "material"-checkbox in the material manager), save&import it. if that solves your problem, raise the alpha value to 100. 3ds tends to save the alpha value as 0, which is fully transparent in the engine. If You uncheck all materials the ship becomes unskinning. So if You could... dwonload f.e. this second ship and try to solve the problem:) Becosue this problem is almost allways with improting models with skins from .3ds THK
Never say never.
