I'm having a problem importing a 3ds model of an island into the MED. Could anyone help me figure out what's going wrong? I'd really appreciate it .. I am very new to 3DGS, still very much a beginner.

My MED version is 6.846. The 3dgs model (an island) I am trying to import
showed up like this in the import window:
Scale Factor 1.0 ; Boundary Box (x,y,z) 150.000 150.000 38.386

The following were tick-marked under Object:
mesh: 'terrain 01' vertices 24,335 triangles 48,156
material: 'material 01'

(not sure what Abbrechen will do, translation in babelfish was 'break up' so I left it alone! O_o ) I clicked OK:
then showed in the lower slider bars:
groups: 1
vertices: 24,335
triangles: 48,156

so far, so good... I clicked OK again:

Top View (upper left window) .. appears to have rendered improperly i.e. upper half (slightly less) looks well-rendered and shaded, lower half is a mass of criss-crossing diagonal lines... to complete the square image.

view settings were:
2d view - shaded ; 3d view - texture + gouraud, bones solid

Note: the other views look fine.

I've tried a number of times, and tried varying the view settings.. but it always comes out this way. what am I doing wrong?
(if you need an image .. let me know..)

and thanks very much for any advice!

Well, 31 views later and no replies... I did some more experimenting, and since the problem seems to be with some 3ds models, I decided to work around the problem in this instance.. I imported my previous heightmap.. that worked.

screenshots please. i have discussed 3ds import in a german thread already, but this "top view" issue sounds new to me.
