ok you get the idea, not string as in a string of text this has been drivin me up the wall trying to find on the forum cause it brings up text for strings, property for rope and nothing much for cable.

anyway, have a look at this website, http://www.flysim.com/flysim/flysim_features.html

you see the pictures of the fly rod im trying to create the same effect in 3dgs with the fishing line i have tried newtons hinge constraint but couldnt get it working correctly its just to clunky.

it also needs to conform to its surrounding as in if the whip hits a box it stops or if it lays on top of a box it will conform to the shape of it and also terrain.

im currently experimenting with deforming a cyclinder model but getting nowhere fast.

any recomendations ?

p.s. try out the demo of the game its prety fun and you get to see what its like to be me for a day (if your not already an angler)

The rope physics quite good in the game..I think you need to connect a lot of very small cylinders to form a rope and use some kind of hinge physics.


I like good 'views' because they have no 'strings' attached..

I can't help you with your physics, but you've done an amazing job. I didn't know GS could be used in that way.

I didn't catch anything, tho.

sorry jazzdude, i never made that game and i dont think it was made with 3DGS, i was looking for rope physics like that in this game.

to catch a trout you basicly have to get the fly in line with the trout and let it drift down toward it, not the best fish ai ive senn they more or less jump when ever they see it or just ignore it.
