soft-shadows are from jpeg compression  But toon shaders do give a "softer" shadow. It's nothing programming, just an optical illusion...

yep Maybe I could draw in 3D but these were just some quick sketches ans I think it turned out pretty well even if the pics are 2D

I would get rid of the round on the top and add a roof instead. Also, the pipe (chimney?) That comes out should be bending upwards.
If not that, then I don't know what else would make it look right.
