Hey all,

I've been using A6 for quite some time now, mainly just playing around with level editing, models and some VERY VERY basic C-Script.

I'm thinking of getting into the scripting side of 3DGS a little more over summer (I tend to pick things up pretty quickly) and was wondering; is it even worth learning C-Script over summer, or should I just learn Lite-C instead?

I understand that Lite-C will be used more in A7 (I have no plans to move over to A7 just yet, I'll probably stick with A6 for quite a while and move over to A7 if a project were to 'take off').. But with C-script being more mature, common sense would tell me it's more reliable (at the moment anyway) and bug free..

I haven't been around here much for a while, so I don't know much about the future of A6 (or A7 for that matter). So is Lite-C going to be fully implimented into A6 (if not, then I should learn C-Script right?)

Sorry this is all very long winded (I've been awake for a long time and I'm so tired. ).

If you're going to stay w/ A6 for a while, then you're right, learn C-Script first, as it does have a longer history, and because of this, a much less buggy system.

Maybe when you get a good grip on C-Script, you can start learning Lite-C for future reference (when you do get A7). However, C-Script will be around for a while yet, even in the early A7 versions, so you don't have to move straight over to Lite-C when/if you get A7.

Code:
void main()
{
    cout << "I am MrCode,";
    cout << "hear me roar!";
    system("PAUSE");
}

Thanks.

I suspected that learning C-Script would be the safest option and gathered that it would still be around in early versions of A7...

Just didn't want to learn something only to find out that C-Script wouldn't be supported for very long and most of the 'newer features' would be implimented into Lite-C rather than C-Script. Or to find out that Lite-C was coming to A6 anyway (Is it?). Oh well.

If you bought A7 and very new to C-Script programming you might as well start learning Lite-C right now. Or both C-script and Lite-C. There are more workshops and scripts for C-Script sure, but those can be converted with some trial and error too.

I've decided I may learn C-Script first (since there are a lot more workshops around, like you said). That way if I do get A7 soon I'll move onto learning Lite-C. Then if there's something I can't do with Lite-C, I'll always have C-Script to fall back on..

*starts learning*
