Hey all. Do we have a good list of commercial 3D (or even 1D -- but not 2D -- never 2D) model packs somewhere? I searched the forums for "+model +packs", tried the wiki, and so forth, but didn't find anything comprehensive.
Having scoured the Web for some decent off-the-shelf models, I come across the likes of these:
http://www.geo-metricks.com/ http://www.dexsoft-games.com/index_en.html http://www.turbosquid.com/ (etc.)
However, I didn't find a "Big List o' Models."
That's basically what you'll get just by viewing the 3D Game Studio download page... [shameless plug] ...where futur-e-scape currently also has commercial quality model packs [/shameless plug]
I too don't know of such a list, though it maybe a task for google to do... next to "images" have "game models". Even if you aren't after an individual listing, a company listing is also deficient. Have you looked at the "starving artist" sticky or some other forums faqs? IGDA and Gamedev.net may have a good list.
However I've got to give a shout out to Turbosquid: It's amazing for individual and pack models. The two things to watch out for are the format and conversion possibilities into 3DGS (MDLs are out ther, but usually not in what you are looking for). Another is the price. If you've dealt on the indie or amateur side of buying assets, the sticker price may shock you.
