I already post this, but I couldn't put this image:

I'm using a very lowpoly model just to make the shadown of my player, for economy reasons. My model is set with overlay (black texture) and shadow parameters, because I won't wanna see it, just its shadow. But I'm having problems...

Some fragments of stencil shadow, like cast shadown, shows on the model. I already changed the cast flag but nothing happens...

Did Somebody try to do this before? Is this some calculation residue of stencil shadow?

Thanks guys...

Two questions:

1 - Why dont you the shadow of your model? this way you will not have much performance, besides you will have aditional data;

2 - Even if you want to use a very low poly model for the shadow, why using overlay, if you can just set the model to invisible and maintain the shadow on?

Also you may check clip_size variable.

1 = I need to use a lowpoly for shadow because my original model is editable, so it have a lot of opened and complex meshes (opened meshes is a problem for stencil shadow).

2 = I tried to use invisible and shadow together, but it makes shadow invisible too. Do you know how to do this, because I can't...

I'm thinking this is a render problem, isn't it?
Thanks...

So why not to use shadow_lod function to place a shadow from lod model - less detiailed?
Cheers.

No big deal, just make the model invisible and check shadow flag in WED or by script. At least with the sun light it works.

shadow_lod... nice. I didn't know this... thanks! But I will not use this.

I tried with invisible and shadow together, and the shadow shows, thanks... but the problem persists...

Look this:

I inked red to see better...

Some idea? Thanks!

Well, think you will have serious problems using stencil shadows with a complex model, actually the 3dgs lightning / shadow system really sucks in my opinion.

Do you want an advice? Try using an old shadow sustem like a sprite under the model faking his shadow (there is an example in some AUM magazine, just dont remember which), or wait for new soft shadow system update (A7 i believe).

Right... I think it's a "render pass z-buffer cast stencil shadow calculating problem"....
This is the prototype model yet. Maybe with the final model I won't see this problem back the shaded model. I pray...

I'm not seeing exactly what your problem is. Stencil shadows show up on anything the hit, including the "invisible" model for the shadow...

And that's why you should use shadow_lod fucntion
