It's easy to create walls out of many blocks without seams but with models there are this ugly seams.

How can i avoid this seams using models stringed together? (not making one model out of it)
Is it a light problem?

thanx, mercuryus

Wenn ich mich recht erinnere, war es so:

- Modell in MED laden
- Vertex Modus aktivieren
- Edit->Select All
- Merge ( ist nur auf der Symbolleiste; nicht im Menü )

Dann sollte es funktionieren.

i have the same problem. i have a broken pillar model that i use for the top and bottom and the center is another model that i use to cover the broken pieces that have a destructive action, so the pillar can be destroyed. it works fine, but you can see the seams. how can i fix it?

it happens because the shading gets interpolated around the edges. you have to create hard edges there. handling of hard edges is a bit cumbersome in med since you have to manually split the vertices.

You could use a shader (shadeMode = flat;)

Technically, you don't even need a shader:

Code:

technique flatShade
{
pass p1
{
shadeMode = Flat;
}
}

Can't merge it because I built the walls from parts by script.
Try the shader and the "hard edges" (is it the opposite of merge?)

"hard edges" works fine (even the shadows work)
the shader shows the triangles but this could be just on my laptop.

thanx again...

sometimes the default shadeMode=flat; gives wierd lighting with the triangles.

It works better if you write a shader for it, but that might be a bit much
