I don't usually post here, too much of a time-suck, but I'd like to share with you my recent experience at The Creation Museum. http://www.creationmuseum.org/Located a few miles from the Cincinnati-Covington Airport, this museum is the brainchild of a classical archeologist turned evangelist Bob (??) with the help from a group called Answers in Genesis. I took my employees there as a going away present for one of them who was leaving. Their fundamental thesis is that the Earth is 6000 years old. Nothing new there; this is based on the genealogical analysis of the bloodline of David and/or Jesus and counting back from them to adam and eve is 6000 years Q.E.D. Where it starts getting "kooky" is when they start talking about the flood. Remember how I said that Bob was an archeologist? Well like most people who confuse science and religion, he has just enough knowledge to be dangerous. He ascertains that after years of digging and digging, the classical explanations of fossils doesn't add up -- they don't say WHY it doesn't add up, just that it doesn't -- and that the Bible explains it all (because of course a book about Religion is also about Science and Medicine, and Housekeeping, and Gardening, and...). So the idea is that the earth was in a Pre-Pangaea state before the flood (they call the singular landmass rondia or something). Then the great flood occured which they explain as a gigantic ocean rift that sent water spewing into the heavens to rain down for 40 days and 40 nights. Now, since all beasts were created at the time of adam and eve and dinosaurs exist, it is religi-logical to assume that dinosaurs and humans existed at the same time. And that the fossils that we see represent the dinosaurs that didn't make it into the ark. So yeah, dinosaurs where on the ark but not around today... hmmm. Oh and I forgot, all animals where vegetarian prior to the flood and turned carnivorous after the flood. Long story short, you can read about it yourself at their website or if you are in the Ohio-Kentucky area visit it yourself. The museum starts innocently enough merely asking us to challenge our conventions... no problem there. But by the end, it turns into a pure evangelical piece damning the world for turning it's back on their god. My big bone of contention is the same one as with the ID people: they take just enough science to satisfy certain doubts rational people have but dismiss the rest. For example, if dinosaurs and humans lived together, why have there NEVER been any human fossils found with dinosaurs? Or what happened to all the dinosaurs that went on the ark... all the other animals seem to have survived, why would a whole species die out? And the effects that a massive rift on the earth, enough to spew up so much water, would have on it's orbit or it's surface is not accounted for. In short, I don't like to ridicule them too much for I view them as misguided children and to quote a great man: forgive them father for they know not what they do.

I hate religeon. Christianity seems so full of bullshit and lies... I don't believe in any god, but it is interesting that there were dinosaurs, but not human fossils. Maybe when someone died, they threw their body into a volcano leaving no remains

For an "archaeologist" he sure knows little about geology then... If there would have been a flood, we would know about it, even one that early.

It's too bad they do not explain why they think it doesn't add up.

The museums founder's name is "Ken" not "Bob", and he is not an archeologist, he just has a bachelor in applied science from Queensland University in Australia.
Ken Ham is really only the founder of the institute and museum, he is not necessarily the only source of thinking behind the young earth creationist viewpoint. There are plenty of people involved in his organization who have bigger badder degrees, not like that matters much to me. I would rather look at facts and references rather than names, degrees, and rhetoric.
If I was ever in the area I would definitely check out the museum, but I have no need to visit all the rednecks in Ohio and Kentucky area. I wonder if the museum was at all entertaining though in terms of the actual presentation(leaving all the bias aside), or if it was fun or interesting at all.

lol, I do too, but sadly I used to be one of them years ago.
Well, if they really wanted to know the truth, they would click on the link below at this website, but they won't.
Institute for Creation Research Check out the article on the LUCY SHOW below. The Lucy Show opens... Quote:
Despite Lucy’s celebrity status in the evolutionary sciences, the AP admits that debate “still rages over how close an ancestor to man Lucy would be, as many experts suspect she was anatomically far closer to apes than humans.”
Oh well, and now I feel like a dumb ape just reading about it. Hehe
