The Akumaeffect is simply a animated sprite. Many 3D games use animated sprite particles. On this http://media.teamxbox.com/games/ss/762/1105375957.jpg screenshot are some deformed sprites/models. I think something like splines or so. I wouldn´t even think about to do it like that, with no programming skills. I think best you use models or sprites/particles for such effects.

maybe, but im not so sure about that.
at exile, i would tell you how to do it, but it would take more then a paragraph on the forums, because of the math you'd need to use.. etc.. like i said, look up the use of particles, and the beam/streak function in the manual
