What's the differance...sorry I'man idiot...and how come A6 is automatically BSP and you need A7 pro to have BSP + ABT too?

I would really like to know this too, I'm just a litle concerned about performance. I may not get the same FPS as I used to (which is currently a near-perfect 75 FPS).

But I don't know, I guess only time will tell.

Code:
void main()
{
    cout << "I am MrCode,";
    cout << "hear me roar!";
    system("PAUSE");
}

BSP is better for indoor games (rooms)

ABT is better for outdoor areas (large viewing area)

Why, I'm not sure, but there was a large thread about this in this section sometime ago...

Okay, now that's cleared up. But as far as I could tell only a7 pro has BSP. I was thinknig about upgading my A6 com to A7 Com....but it would be taking away BSP from me...is it worth it? Am I gonig to miss BSP and wish I hadn't upgraded, or is ABT in most cases just better anyway?

I can say that the one level I've been tinkering with in A7 slight framerate decrease in ABT only mode (5-10 in one particular section). Keep in mind I'm using old style collision (USE_AABB and enable_polycollision = 0.5) and this doesn't work in this mode. My player will become a ghost and walk through walls, although he doesn't fall through the floor. I don't know if this might have something to do with my framerate drop.

However, when I build in "classic" BSP mode (I have pro), I still get a 2-4 fps drop at that same section. In A6 Commercial, my fps was always 60 and rarely waivered (and never in this particularly level). In A7 Pro, it drops a bit. From what I've read, BSP and ABT work together and it can be "tricky" to get them to work together (according to Doug), so maybe that's the reason. I don't know what the tricky part entails. I've asked a couple of times, but never got a response.

enable_polycollision dosent work? Well, in ABT do we still get poly-percise collisions? Or are we back to bounding boxes?

It still works; however you can't use old style collision with ABT (or whatever the actual reason may be). You have to use OBB modes; otherwise your player walks through your geometry/blocks. As I stated above, if you set enable_polycollision to 0.5, the c_instructions behave like fast old collision. I'm not sure if this setting is what is causing the "classic" mode in A7 to cause the slowdowns. I haven't taken the time to convert my code to OBB and changing the enable_polycollision to a higher mode.

I think I'll use the A7 Engine, but use A6 to build my BSP levels.

(Seriously, I doubt it's that easy, but hey, it's worth a shot! ).

I guess you'll need an A6 engine to load those BSP levels, too
