The python script that I downloaded somewhere here is supposed to allow exporting directly to MDL from Blender (*.blend). I downloaded it, but my scripts folder is nowhere to be found. Strangely enough though, the other scripts work just fine.

I have Blender v2.44, and I actually have two questions:

1) Is there another way to export to MDL?

2) If not, where else would the 'C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender\.blender\scripts' folder be?

ps. I'll also point out that '.blender' can't be the name of a folder, so whoever said that (I forget) is incorrect.

why can't ".blender" be the name of a folder? of course it can be and it is! you have to find it.

they forgot to bundle some needed python modules in the blender 2.44 distribution so you have to install python 2.5 (www.python.org) to get the exporter working.

there is no other way to export mdl7 but if you don't need animation then you could try to export obj. med can import that.

or you could use an older version

But since it runs with the pyton installed, this isn´t necessary. But in blender 2.45 the problem is going to be solved (i thought i´ve read something like that).

Hmm, I have python installed already, but the thing is, I need to put the script inside the scripts folder, but I can't find it. I said that '.blender' can't be a folder because I tried to rename a folder by that name. The error message said "You must type in a filename".

Oh well, I'll try looking again.

P.S. Your exporter is really helpful, I'll use it once I get the script working.

EDIT: I found it. It was in the Default User\Application Data area. I put the script inside the scripts folder but it still doesn't show up. I'll try downloading another version of Blender. Thanks for the help. I'll post back here if I have anymore questions.

Hi, that was me, i gave you that link with exporter and directory where it have to be placed.
Strange that you found that folder in Default User\Application Data area, because i runned search on my computer and couldn't find the .blender folder anywhere except where i told you. As you can see it's full of scripts, your folder should look the same as mine.

maybe you're using not instaled version of blender, there is two types of downloading blender: Instaler and Archive. I'm using instaled Blender 2.44 and have instaled python 2.5.

yeah, I've always thrown my .py stuff in the same spot for years....it's so big I actually save a copy of the folder and replace the files(if non existent) in any new installs...e.g. when 2.45 is released(when...hello BF).
