Thanx for the c&c (don't stop!).

No more voting for the story - it's set.
Here some explanations about the story and the gameplay:
I've choosen a changed "running man" story. I also like it the most.

The story:
2064 - earth seems like a paradies for the human mankind.
Everthing is done and controlled by computers and maschines.
No starving not war and almost no violence.
But there is one big problem - leisure time.
Most of the humans are bored and don't know what to do with their free time.
They want news, fun, action, sometimes sports but everytime new entertainment.

The administration placed a tv-show called "SURVIVAL" where the inmates get the chance to get set free - the just have to pass through a fighting area.
If they reach the end, they are set free and can keep all the ca$h they collect on their way.
To get enough volunteers sometines even a small delict brings you to jail.

The gameplay:
Like in e.g. Supermario you have to run from the left to the right through a long level with many opponents (maschines) and a lot of goodies.
Behind you the cave-like level will be closed so you can't proceed back too far. (that's more a technical solution for the leveldesign)
From time to time ther are rooms with big bosses you have to fight - the room is sealed if you enter it and opened if you've beaten the big opponent. This is also a savepoint in the continous game.
The opponents (currently 12 types) are shared through the entire game (shown up bit by bit) and get stronger.

The basic gameplay is finished, the levelgeneration works fine, the background music is set and the most sounds.
Open points are the menue (Nemisis here is a helping hand) and the big bosses.

PS: for the shader-freaks I've added some shaders you can switch trough (normalmap, toon, grayscale, 16-colors, ...)
[edit] Not all blocks are destructable - you can see them ingame - they have cracks. (not visible in the low qual. movie)

Sounds very consistent!
And it even gives 'plausibility' for the arrangements of the blocks and for the sidescroller view!

Thats not a story. Thats a scenario at best. There are no characters to speak of, and its really not more than an excuse for running around and shooting things. Plus, we all heard it a million times before.

So, as far as the "story" goes, that won't make me buy the game. Who knows? Maybe in the game, something will happen that make the whole story-scenario-whatever more interesting.

On to the gameplay, then! So far, it's... interesting. It's not the innovative, "ZOMG-how-cool"-style gameplay, but its not finished, after all. The graphics are very bland. I guess you won't go for colorful, as that is not cool enough, but then, use cool lighting effects and add details. Right now, its just grey blocks with crates and yellow creatures (who kinda look like Gorons from Zelda, I might add). Also, the framerate seems to be a little low, but I guess thats due to the video. Gameplaywise, its running around, shooting things, did I get that right? So far, its like SuperMarioBros (from 1985, no less!) with guns. So why should I play your game and not SuperMarioBros? What the game is missing is a defining element that only your game has. Something that eliminates all the competition, that makes me say "I can't get game X instead".

So let's be a little creative and think of something. Looking at your scenario, we realize that the whole thing is, apparently, nothing more than an elaborate attempt to achieve high television ratings. Then why does the game look so different? By implementing a few things, you could make it feel more like a television show with the goal to entertain the viewer. Add a narrator - either try to make him (or her?) sound really cool, or give him a cynical voice.

What else could you do? Make the camera more exciting. Right now, it just moves with the player. Yeah, that works. But its not EXCITING TELEVISION! So zoom in on the player, tilt the camera to show where the rocket I shot hits and things like this. Make it dynamic, but don't overdo it (don't confuse me).
Show statistics, and don't be afraid to show random statistics. Player destroyed block no. 34! Things like that. Don't show them everytime, but it will mix things up and keep it interesting if I learn these kind of things. You can also combine that with prizes that I get whenever I pass a milestone (I destroyed 100 blocks, killed 40 enemies, jumped a distance greater than 500 m... be creative!). Show replays whenever I achieved something cool, or use splitscreens to show the action. Give randomly designed challenges to me (beat all 15 enemies! Move to spot X in 30 seconds!), that I can accept for a healthbonus or something along these lines. Add a combosystem and let me know if I score points by creating huge numbers on the screen. There are many things you can add to make it seem more creative, more dynamic and more fun. All in the name of entertainment

(Could you edit your first post and add a title to it? "no title" is not really telling much )

Perhaps this post will get me points for originality at least.

Check out Dungeon Deities! It's amazing and will make you happy, successful and almost certainly more attractive! It might be true!

Erro014 - cool down!

I don't want to sell this game here (or you).
Looks like you confuse a little "showcase I" of a game-forum and "advertise a game for selling"?

Nevertheless thanx for the constructive part of you post.
A spoken moderation was also in my mind (as well as observer ambiente) but pro work is too expensive.
I don't like "statistics" in a little shooter-game - who cares about the number of destroyed blocks?
Time-challenges may be an option, we will see...
