Hello.

I'm not sure which of the forum sections this would have been best to post under; seemed to be a few good options, but I chose this one. Forgive me if it's the wrong place

I'm in pre-production on a 3D tile-based puzzle game and am trying to find a good resource for working with 3D tiles in 3DGS. I've played one or two games made with 3DGS that use 3D tiles, so I know it can be done. I've looked for tutorials, etc, but found nothing along those lines.

I did check out the Tile-Based tutorial in the AUM Resource list, but that's specifically for painting 2D tiles on a 3D surface. There are a couple things done in that tutorial that I think would be perfect for a 3D tile game - esp. to create a level editor. But the process of actually working with 3D tiles, giving them properties, using "brush-based" geometry versus pre-modeled geometry in a given situation, etc. is really what I need to learn.

Does anyone know of any good resources specifically for this? Or at least something that would be a good starting point?

Thanks in advance!

Are you talking about tiles as 3d models ? If yes, than the Iso-Tut is covering that up,except it uses a bitmap image, rotates it so it lies on the floor. Wont be hard to remove the rotation and change the ent_create model parameter with an actual model

PS.: In AUM,look for `Skeletons Inc` I think. It uses 3d boxes for floor, making a puzzle game, like Lost idol (not shure about the title).

Hey there,

Thanks for the response!
Yeah, In my case, I'm thinking I can either have some tiles as standard "brush" type meshes, or all of them as models. Some tiles will be static while others will be interactive (movable, rotatable, etc...)

I tried finding the skeleton you mentioned on the AUM site but didn't find it? Saw something about Zombies, but it didn't seem the same as what I'm looking to do.

I'll keep looking.

Thanks!
