sorry to be a pain here, this explosion is great, but when i`m moveing and blow someting up the explosion seems to vanish really quickly, i think my player is being shunted forward through it, which is a shame as flying through the smoke would be a cool effect. any thoughts on what to do? can i turn off the camera shake thing perhaps?
Its only due to 3dgamestudios particle system, they cull particles really early and the larger particles the easier it is to notice. if you want a better effect you should replace every large particle with many small particles when you get closer, but this will decrees the framerate due to even more transparent pixels. The best thing to do with cameras moving though smoke is to do as they do in CS source, hard to explain every aspect of it, but its basically that you fade away particles that gets close to the camera, and adds a smoke coloured transparent layer over the screen, the closer to the center of the smoke that you get the less transparent layer.
and that is nothing that the explosion code handle for the moment, and nothing i will add, but something that would not be to hard for someone else to add.
Hope that helped anything.
