I have a very strange idea for a program.

I don't want to get to in depth, but it's not really a game, though it could utilize the engine features nicely.

What I am wondering is, how difficult would it be to build a chat client in A5?

The text would have to be displayed within a panel, and the user should be able to scroll through the text within the panel all the way back to the very first post.

How difficult would this be to acheive with A5?

I have VERY little experience with such things, and just want to validate my idea before trying to actually build it.

Thoughts, opinions, ideas, suggestions?

Difficulty is a matter of how well you know C-script.

I thought it would be POSSIBLE, but the question is the difficulty.

I know C script pretty darn well at this point, as it so closely resembles C (my "native" programming laguage) as to be virtually indistinguishable in many cases.

What I can't seem to get my widdle head awound, is the idea of containing the text within the panel, and allowing the user to scroll through it!

I can IMAGINE a hundred ways to go about it, but am uncertain, strike that, unconfidant that they will work.

What would be the best way to go about it? Put a view in the panel? Build the panel "that way" from the get-go? Any thoughts are appreciated.

I did it via the SDK with some modding of the office c-script. It supports colored text as well. A few bugs still.

Alpha version. Buggy. Only works in Office. You could probably modify it to work in any project though.

why does it only work in office?

It is tied to the Office multiplayer code.

You could modify the WDL to use your own however.
