There always problems like this over the internet mass project or no. Having said that if you got a good idea and a well formed design document, I will see what i can contribute.

it's a great idea, really, if you put together a full story-line and could get everyone together for something like this, then it would be pretty cool, considering the fact that if you had everything planned out, the game would take no time at all, because if everyone was working on a piece then it would be done in about 2-3 months....however that being said there would have to be a project leader, as well as taking everyone doing their part...but i'm not sure that everyone in the forum would do it...i'd love to, but not everyone is as optimistic as i, but like i said, very good idea, you could make a Half life scale game in no time
