Easier - yes but there is one thing:
There are bots scanning for E-Mail addresses all the time and they are looking for [TEXT]@[TEXT].[ENDING]. If your address got scanned you can enjoy loads of spam-mails. That's why in most cases you shouldn't officially write down your E-Mail address but try to "hide" it in some kind of fashion just like writing all the [at] and [dot] things...

spam isnt a real thread anyways nowadays. there are pretty good filters out there... if you know how to use 'em you won't be bothered

With gmail for example, yes definitely no spam problem, however with just about all other email services I use I'm getting between 10 to up to 100 spam-emails each day.. reason enough to want to camouflage my email-addresses,
