Hi all!

Just thought i'd post our demo version of Island Hoppers on these forums for some feedback.
There's still a bit to do but it's almost finished. Our team consists of 10 students. We are all currently studying our Diploma in Games Development at Southbank Institute of Technology, Brisbane, Australia. We have been working on Island Hoppers for 12-13 weeks or so, which is also when we were first introduced to Gamestudio.

Here is the link to the setup file: Island Hoppers Demo

Here are some screenshots:

So please send through any feedback.

Thanks in advance
Jason

Looks real cool for a group who only had a couple of months use of the engine.
Bit overcrowed with all the panels but looking good people, congrats.

Very very use of panels and 3d art, I'd like to test it but cannot at the moment.

few critiques as seen from the screenshots:

Some parts of the level require either larger skin or detail/dirt map (we aren't in the 90's anymore, we have computing power now, so don' think that it takes up too much memory/CPU/VRAM/Whatever )

Water could be done with reflection and refraction, this would add realism. (this is not needed in your kind of game, but is a little professional touch)

Water particles need to be redone it looks quite ugly imo (as seen in screenshot), maybe I need to see it in motion to be more exact.

hey first of all i know its not fised i hope, it feels good but nothing is realy good, physic suck some times, when you can choose your car its realy laggy(i have a good standard computer),sounds are great and panels to

i dont gonna complain about 3d art

i got problems because it starts and plays in window mode could it be changed to fullscreen

if you use speed ups if you are turning the weels are geting crazy and it does everthing but the wheels dont stay on your car

the ai system compleets the laps 2/4 times and they drives many time agains walls and tree's

i like bugs but there still much of them i could go on like hours white this

but this are realy the biggest bugs

dont know if you have time white studie but i hope you go one and whished you luck

The project looks good, especially for only 10-12 weeks with the use of 3dgs The download file was quite big for a demo but that didn't spoiled the FUN at all, the gameplay is nicely done, the level design idem dito, some textures could use a higher resolution since they look to blurry
The physics are quite correctly implanted but the water and watersplashes need some rework to add up for the plausible look. In overall, great work for introducing yourself on this friendly forum
Waiting for updates.

Cheers

"aussie aussie aussie!! ... " the next aussie to reply can finish that off

well done! for such a small amount of time it's nice to see something that's been decently put together! i can't download anything atm, but from the screenshots it is looking fairly nice. having not played it, i can't disagree with any of the constructive criticism mentioned so far, but i would like to say that the colours match very well. many games on this forum come out with ugly lighting and some things seeming out of place.

by the texture resolution i get the impression that it's meant to be viewed from much further away.
