Hi all!

I want to add a black contour around my models, to give them a cartoon-ish look; I think this is a good way give a game a cool look, with almost zero lighting effort as well as keeping it light on the hardware (example). I found that a common method is to create a slightly enlarged version of the model, invert its normals and color it all black (or whatever color you want the contour to be). 'Enlarged', in this sense, is not plainly 'scaled': concave models will not be correctly outlined if a plain scaling is applied. Instead, some sort of per face extrusion along the normal direction is needed.

So my question is: does anyone know of an editor (preferably freeware) that implements this 'fattening' function? I suppose this is impossible to accomplish using MED or through scripting, right?

Thanks all
