Hello
I got this small problem with skinning model in MED, I made a model in 3DMAX then imported it to MED and in Skin editor i saved wireframed image of my models Front and back then im photoshop i drew nice skin over that whireframed image and when i imported the skin to MED my model looked UGLY! the skin and everything ws in right place but it didnt look good it was like one of those 1st 3D Games

Anyone knows how to make HIGH QUALITY SKIN for MODEL? any tutorials maybe?

Thanks in Advance...

Here is the problem (or, from your description, sounds like it is the problem):

The current version of MED only displays in 256 colors (like the old FPS that you talk about). This has absolutely NO affect on your model, though. Just save it and run the model in your level and it should look fine.

You have 3DMAX and use MED for skinning???
Are you Crazy???MED is trash! Use the skinning system in MAX!

When you run your game, your model will be fine, the skin will be like hogh-quality in photoshop...only in MED the skin appears ugly

Hi !

Please don`t write that bad about MED. In comparison with 3dsmax4 it is a very simple model editor with wich you really can create high quality models.

The following models were created with MED and with MED only.

Actually I prefer skinning im MED. Since most real time models are low poly it really doesn't take that long to lay out the skin mesh. It is even quicker once you get use to the selection tools.

If you're looking to make easy skinning possible, MED is the way to go. However it's very tedious. 3ds max is incredibly easy to skin with... Maya is the master in skinning mind you.

Layman's answer to Stan's question:

The MED 3d view isn't what the model actually looks like in your game. It's just a 256 color preview (as Dan has stated). I noticed a nice little freeware model viewing app around here somewhere (maybe on the download page). Maybe this would help you to see your model skins more quickly, and in full color.

In the code snippets. Another DIY app. I loved the code updater (download page).
