What would be nice is an option to set RGB values for individual vertexes and/or faces in MED. This would provide a nice, easy-to-edit alternative to skin textures that saves texture memory and processing power for (1) cartoon-style or retro-style games and (2) non-environmental meshes such as menu and GUI objects.
