i dont know what to say, i'm speechless... the sad thing is, that the game is not meant as a joke. or at least i don't get it?! it's looking so bad that you might think it's a parody or something but really i highly doubt it is... i think the developers wanted to make a new refreshing christian game... and this is what came out! however some of the gameplay elements are creative, if only the gfx and overall look would be better... this is the perfect example that 'this kind of game' gets a lot more attention in the media, than good stuff. even if gs would get a rebranding, it just needs one 'game' to brand the rebrand

You do realize we have a thread about the game in Showcase, right? (the previos sentence is a link - feel free to click it and be amazed) Other than that, I agree with JetpackMonkey on the name issue - I too find it embarassing to confess that I'm creating games with "3D Game Studio". Sure, I can understand why Conitec uses that name - some of us are probably only here due to the impression given by the name: That its super easy to create games with it and that anyone can do it. And while it does become easier, sure, it is still hard work. The point is, the name gives a different impression, which is bad when you want to show off your game and it is so easy for people to get the impression that it was actually nothing but clicking a few things together. For that, I'd like the option to only display "Acknex" or "A6"/"A7" - with no "3D Game Studio" or "www.3dgamestudio.com" - I think we're allowed to do that on the splashscreen already (we can ask to use our own design, right?), but the URL is mentioned on the starting screen. Uhm, or is it still? EDIT: In response to Pappenheimers post - I'll just openly admit that I'm just shallow like that and don't want the players laughing at me and underestimating the amount of work it took in this way. I hate it when people ask me what toolkit I use and when I point them to the website, I basically have to put a sentence or two like "despite its name, you can still do great things with it and its not a click-together thing". I wasn't specifically referring to publishers - I don't know how or if the engine used affects them. Wasn't it already suggested once to have two seperate pages - one more professional at "acknex.com" and keep the old one at "3dgamestudio.com"?

"the sad thing is, that the game is not meant as a joke"
RanMan had fun to make this game, to me it was fun to see this video. The intro is hilarious. I'm not sad at all. If the game has no or only a few minor bugs, its great, that he achieved that.
And, I think that you shouldn't exaggerate the impact of your game's engine on whether you sell your game to a publisher or not, because the first contact of the publisher with your game most probably are a few sentences about target group, gameplay and story, some screenshots and, maybe, a video. If you show a publisher your prototype or already finished game, you can start it on your laptop, before you speak him. Its the product that sells, not the engine. No need to mention the engine.

I was waiting for someone to mention RanMan. As soon as I saw the Christian & animal in the same sentence I knew it was his, lol...
While it's not exactly my style of gameplay, at least it's complete. I'm proud of RanMan and I can't say anything bad about his game...

As said already said above, it's a different game no doubt, and the video introduction was probably comical on purpose. Congrats to Ran on finishing and getting all this publicity, the good and the bad. That's something not many can do, regardless of what they make. As to the 3dgamestudio name issues, I really don't see how that would matter, it's your product that sells you.

Hmm... Well, this game is terribly bad, the textures are the ones that come with WED, the sounds.... ermm... OK ^^ But, of course its Ran's choice to ignore all of these comments and carry on, but in my opinion that is kind of ignorant. But nevertheless, there is another problem I'm worried about. Am I the only one, who sees a difference in the comments under the video and comments here in the 3DGS forum?? Now tell me, why does almost everyone here tries to forget about the bad graphics, the lack of a normal story and weird gameplay, but writes comments like "Congratulations on finishing it, The game is quite good etc.". Just ask yourself would you be happy if you made a game like this, and then post. I understand it is polite to focus on the positive things, but if one doesn't hear any negative comments, how can he now that something is wrong with the game?? It just looks that everyone is scared of being banned or bashed by other users, if they post a negative comment!

It all boils down to friendship and politeness then.... But still, I think something is a bit wrong in changing one's attitude towards a game just because you found out who made the game! I mean, the game doesn't change if you know that fact, it still stays the same it was before! And you can still post negative comments if you provide some help for the guy, give him some suggestions, but I do not agree in blatantly lying to yourself and to RanMan, saying that the game is very good, funny, etc. I for one didn't even find it funny. And now suggestions from me to RanMan - read the negative comments, try to solve the problems mentioned. Do not use the default textures, find some good sounds, and most important - do not sell the game for 17.77 and the soundtrack for 7.77 ^^ That is just wrong, and for a christian - somewhat inappropriate. Also work on the story some more and try to get the specs a lot lower, because considering a 1.5Ghz PC a low-end PC, isn't nice! I own one, so I should know!
