Hi all

i'm going to ask my question here, an other member recommends me to post here so here's my question :

Let's go :

I try to make the tutorial level with A7 version (trial and in the future Extra).

All things are ok but I have a problem with shadows : They look like stairs, look at this picture, perhaps you will understand what I try to say :

How can I correct this ?

this topic is the next of this : http://www.coniserver.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/812142/an/0/page/0#Post812142

thx in advance

(sorry for my bad english)

That look is due to the shadowmap resolution being too low, that much I can tell you. I just don't know how you set that in A7 (I'm a 3dgs newcomer).

I've tried to set up severals option in the build window but nothing change

I've tried severals command with Lite-C like 3d_shadowdepth or other commands and no change

I don't understand how to correct that

I would like to add that I don't have this problem with models, only with blocks.

Hi Crystal,
I'm having that same problem. But it didn't happen before.
Here's a screengrab.
The thing is: how do we fix this?

I don't know, I'm trying to found a solution but nothing.

I've posted (at the begin) on the WED forum, but no idea...

I tried several commands with LiteC, several options in WED.

I tried with the trial to setup the antialiasing but no change.

I don't know where I have to search now.

I think this happen because the light source is too near the object. Try putting the object further or reduce the size of the light. Also, I notice that when you increase the light intensity, the shadow gradient gets better. You can increase the intensity by increasing all RGB component of the light. Hope this help.

this problem happens with the sun too (ie : my screen click the link in the first post) and it's more difficult to move the sun (we can play with angles but it depends of the effect we want...)

It hurts to think that it has something to do with system specs.
It must be something very simple we're not looking.
I tried to enable Visibility Calculations, put Lightmap Ambiance to 0 (the tooltip says that '0=better shadow gradient'.
Nothing changed.
Now that's a pretty powerful demotivator.
Let's keep looking and please don't leave me in the dark if discover anything.

In 3D games I have beautiful shadows....If it has something to do with system specs I don't understand...Why in 3DGS and not in other things like games.

In add, I have the same problem with 2 differents PC.
