This is my first independent game from the tutorials and I was wondering what would be a good place to start when making the game engine. We have a good idea about the storyline and the power ups and stuff like that just need help actually making everything work together as one game.

Making a game engine or just a game?

If your making an entire game engine (which is what 3DGS is) then your in the wrong forums.

Otherwise, if your looking to make a game using the 3DGS engine - then your in the right place. There are plenty of resources around here to help get any genre of game started, with a variety of dedicated websites hosting tons of codes/textures/models/levels/etc. for your personal needs. On top of all that the entire community is here to help with whatever problems your having.

Keep an eye on the manual as well, make it your best friend! Hope this has helped a little, if not give a little more insight on what your looking to do.

Sorry that I wasn't clear enough. Me and my crew are making a 3d adventure game with some puzzle elements. I want to use the 3D Gamestudio Engine. Does anyone have some websites to get some code templates and maybe a website on making an adventure game? Thanks in advance for any help that you give me.

I'd have to say your response is a bit strange, if you truely are just starting at making games you might want to aim lower then a full adventure game, however either way I'd suggest you try looking at the AUM's they are a great way to start out. Read through as many as you can that seem relevant to what your doing and learn what you can.
