how do I trace in a direction reletive to the players pan?

this is how i'm tracing: but it trases absolutly not reletivly


result = trace(vector(player.x,player.y,player.z - 30),vector(player.x+30,player.y,player.z));
IF (result > 0) { player.force_x = 0;}
