does someone know how to make a hole into the terrain so I can build underground corridors or a cave?

you can't really do that with terrains (except with awkward tricks like using transparency and ignoring collisions at the wanted hole) so i better would use models instead of terrains.

I have very large one and I want to use it because it uses chunked terrain with LOD. I also use multitexture terrain. I will try to combine terrain with models.
Do you think it's good idea?

you can use multitexturing and lod with models too but if your world is huge chunked terrain probably is faster. combining terrain with models could work too. it depends on how your caves are supposed to look like but maybe you can create a big depressed area on your terrain and put a model above it which contains the cave. you have to experiment a little with ideas like that...

I'd use the level change code to switch to a cave level that way you only have to biuld the enterance of the cave as a model then switch level to a full cave model. You fallow?
