the truespace seems really bad at texturing and modeling! How come ? I mean microsoft bought them but they might been mistaken I would never invest money in it. Modo and Lightwave are in same range of price and I cannot even compare. I've seen some silo picture and it's better. Wont even talk about lightwave. As a Maya user I don't ever understand what's going on ? I mean they should hire me to do some model for them. I'm far from being the best modeler out here but I can even believe some kind of engine really exist. I mean I though at the beginning it was a game engine, but it wasn't ! how come ?! excuse me but I'm reallllly chocked.

Anyway I hope you didn't invest any money on it just check luxology website and feel the differences ...

I work a lot a time with truespace7
is a great tool
but are diferent think for work
"they the first in direct manipulation of the model's"
the only problem I see is that how export to a format
100%x100% compatible with gamestudioA7

Hiya.

I started 3d with trueSpace v2 waaaaay back when. It has always had the stigma of it's interface; you either loved it, or hated it. There was very few in the middle ground.

TS was an innovator to many different things. It had some pretty cool tools (and still does; I like a lot of how it's actual Sweep, Bevel, Lathe, etc. tools work). The biggest problem I think tS has is that Roman and the crew simply *refuse* to listen to what people want. People have been clamoring for an optional interface; where one could select 'text buttons' in stead of the default 'icon buttons'. People wanted to look under the Polygon Edit tools and see "Lathe | Bevel | Sweep | Twist" etc. since about version 3, IIRC. Now it's at version 7 and they *finally* have text choices available.

The biggest, for me, disappointment that has consistently kept me from upgrading past v4.2 is tS's abysmal way of handling animation. It's virtually impossible to animate well in tS. While v7 has made a LARGE leap up the animation ladder, they still have a VERY long way to go. So I wait and watch. Maybe tS8 will have the animation tools for 'actual' animation in a non-insanity-loosing way.

Nope, not the listening is the problem. Problem is that his company was too small to implement the stuff. Not enough manpower to implement the needed features in lifetime nor enough manpower to even fix the bugs. Which leaded to the fact that Roman decided to implement new features instead fixing the bugs to stay at least somehow up to date and to stay in business.

TS 7.5 was finally simply too big for this small company.

I still use 6.6 because 7.5 is too buggy and too incomplete to work with. I always ended in making a screenshot and reporting a bug instead getting things done.

Yup. the old native bones are bastards. Oh what a battle to even do simple things. I had nevertheless my funtime with them

Motion Studio from Primitive Itch is freeware nowadays though. And still a great and easy to use bones system for ts 5 up to 6.6 (not sure if it works in ts 4. But it refuses to work proper in TS 7.5 Model side). Unfortunately you cannot export it. <-- that would have been a killer bones system.

The new native bones system of 7.5 is very promising. But still a bit too buggy for my flavour. Every step was guarded by bugs and quirks. I have given up rigging at the point where the default pose refused to work proper. And wait for 7.6 now before i touch this beast again.

Hiya.

Well, they Caligari was recently bought out by Microsoft...so we'll see where that takes 'em. Personally, I'm thinking MS only wants them for tS's "live connection capabilities" and everything else will kinda take second place. *shrug*
