Can anyone reccommend a good book for learning about shaders? or maybe link to a good tutorial? I've been looking around the forums and the web and all anyone seems to ever post is examples of shader code, which is nice but i havent got a clue how it all works.

I'm a total shader n00b and need something that explains it all to me in n00b terms. ;D

I would advise you the following links:

But before doing that, there's a very good shader tutorial (done by Excessus and jcl) in one of the previous AUM's.
Then follow up those links in that order to gain a good amount of experience for the terminology and the overall methode. If any term is unclear, there is always google
If you passed through all of this, then you can start doing the book section (the real work). Here is one useful book but off course there are many other good books about this too:

It will be a long road to understand the wonderful world of vertex and pixel manipulation but it's one heck a

thank you for the exellent links. I'd seen the book on Amazon earlier, saw how expensive it was and pretty much skipped right over it. I went back and put it on my wishlist though and i'll see if i can get the money for it together. (Not that im *exactly* poor, but $141 is a bit of an investment for me ;D )

Ill follow up on your tutorial and the AUM tutorial, Excessus and let you know if that does the trick for me. I'll also follow up the other links that were posted.

I can't even seem to really integrate shaders I find on the resource page to work >_<
