Hi all
Just a quick question.
I have made a box in 3DS Max and have put on texture, exported using .ase file format. Opened file in Med and saved as .mdl file.Opened Wed and added model. works fine. But I want to add a shadder to this model so have added the normal map to the texture in 3ds Max and exported the same as befor but when in Wed and added shadder to this model no nomal map appears unless I add the normal map as another skin in med, then the shadder works on the model in wed. I what to add multi textures and normal maps in 3ds max. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Sorry but i could not help you with your question, but I would like to ask you something.
Did skinmap you entire box in 3ds max and exported to med and all textures/skin came together perfectly?

sorry
thanks

Seems to be a fair few of us moving in the same direction here. Using 3DsMax and ASE really helps the export pipeline, something GS has been falling short on for some time.

I too am trying to apply shaders and generally improve this potential workflow: I made some progress last week with help from the guys here on the forum, might be worth a look? Thread

As I am using .ASE format, my textures are external anyway, so no actual texture exporting happens from max. If I am using a shader that required the diffuse skin to be followed by a normal map.

For ease of use I might create an additional material ID in 3DsMax, so that when I import the .ASE in MED it would already have a slot assigned pointing to the normal map etc.

Hope that helps \:\)
