Biyu Biyu Rocket- True Toon Shading- Coming Soon!

Biyu Biyu Rocket is coming! For those who have been waiting patiently, we are proud to announce that the demo (and trailer demo) are on their way to completion. The team here at Axel Gaming Software has been working extremely hard on this project, and we hope that you will enjoy our product. Some features of BBR include:

-All the features of A6.2 Commercial Engine
-Vertex cel "Cartoon" shading
-Bump Mapping
-Environmental Mapping
-Smooth Day/Night Transitions
-Weather Patterns
-Multiple equipable items
-Crisp smooth character animations w/ bones
-Large detailed explorable 3D Worlds
And much, much more!

Biyu Biyu Rocket is the story of a young boy (Arie) on a quest to save the world, 500 years after it was it by a meteor in the year 2011. Thus civilization was reset, and the land lies in fragments floating in an eternal sky. Then when an evil power awakens, in the form of a mysterious masked figure, Arie must fight to keep the volcano from destroying the small island of Buroro, his native land. Maybe he can stop the volcano from erupting... but can he stop the evil force from destroying the Earth; for the final time?

Special thanks to Alex Esslinger (For cartoon shading), Ventilator(For more A6 shaders), TMK(for scripting and image hosting), Shampoo(For concept art), the folks at Conitec(For their wonderful product and constant updates), Dan Silverman & George Pirvu (For their magazines in which BBR is being presented in some form or another) and anyone else who helped to contribute to the project!

Enjoy!

That effect was created by Alexander Esslinger. In fact we do not even own the source code to it, just an encrypted .wrs file. As far as I know this is the only cartoon shader made for 3dgs, other than a few cheesey tests that I have done on my own. If you want to check it out, contact him... Though let me warn you, it took a *lot of connvincing just to get this!

Very nice Nade!! I like the new shots being shown, and I quite enjoyed the interview (It was the first thing I looked at; still havn't looked at anything else yet). Anyways, as per the norm, I must be the good old teasing / crabby / impatient guy and get my little piece of motivation out to all you guys at AGS, so here goes...

Get your butts in gear and get a demo!! lol ...

Anyways, as I said, great stuff there, and I will wait as long as necessary to get it, and, in all seriousness, take all the time needed to make this every bit as amazing as it should be (I really can wait, and if I can, I know the rest can lol).

Regards,
Ayrus

I've been away from these forums for a while. I remember when you were just starting that project. Seems to be comming along quite nicely. You've done a good job capturing the nintendo look and style.

Wow! Amazing! [insert postive adjective]! My only problem is that, although the font in the screenshots go with the cartoony style of the game, in the message box (where the npc says something about finishing your chores) I found that the text didn't "flow". It took a little more concentration than I would prefer to give (especially if the whole game was like that). I suggest that you make the font easier to read. What does everyone else think? (maybe my eyes are just messing up). Anyway, I, like everyone else, am looking foward to the demo. Looks good!

Waiting for a great sig inspiration... still waiting... darnit!

Actually, as hard as it is for me to say this, I do agree, the font does lack "flow"... well, it has it, but it can be a bit difficult to read, although that could just be because of the resolution of the screenshots. The only way to know for sure however would be to see a shot at the actual resolution that the game is at during runtime. Then I could comment more regarding the font.

Ayrus

Hey everyone I'm glad to see that you are all still following the game Thanx for the good remarks! Things have been a bit hectic around here latelly.. but now that the holidays are over (and a bunch of school projects are done) I should be able to get back into my usual BBR scedual. As for the font... I am still pondering whether to change it or not. Yes I agree, its tough, but as you said Ayrus, in game it isn't quite as bad. (Although it looks neat ) Hopefully I will have some more updates for you all soon. Btw - We are looking for a new BBR Animator (as well as skinner/modeler if possible) Check out the Jobs Offered section for details.

I don't know if this was already covered, but what exactly does the title of the game have to do with the game itself? It sounds like that Sega game, Chu Chu Rocket.
